Diversity and Respectful Behavior Policy

The International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC) is inviting you to join the IYNC2020 in a spirit of professionalism, diversity, friendliness, open-mindedness and respect. The IYNC organizing committee commits to making the conference and all the activities productive and enjoyable for everyone. “Diversity in Nuclear” means creating an environment in which all participants are valued equitably for their skills and abilities, and respected equally for their unique perspectives and experiences. We encourage you to keep an open mind and will not tolerate harassment of any kind directed toward participants and speakers.

At the IYNC2020 conference, please act with respectful behavior in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • Avoid sexist, racist or any other inappropriate comments or actions. Act professionally. Any anti-social behavior or discriminatory action is unacceptable.
  • Be respectful. Provide constructive criticism.
  • Illegal drug and alcohol abuse will not be tolerated at the conference. While some conference events do serve alcohol, participants should be mindful of their own limits and respect those that do not participate in alcohol consumption.

If you or someone else experiences harassment, regardless of how you otherwise choose to initially handle the situation, you are encouraged to report the situation to the IYNC2020 organising committee. Please contact James Hardiman (james.hardiman@iync.org) and/or Marina Sara (marina.sara@iync2020.org) to report any relevant details or discuss your issue. James and Marina have both been contact officers in their professional roles and have the relevant experience to mediate conflicts and other issues that may arise. The complaint and investigation will be handled with respect for the privacy of all involved.
